Osceola County Historical Society Field Trips

Groups have a variety of options to choose from:

Pioneer Village Tour – Tour multiple structures from the late 1800’s, including a cracker house, a blacksmith shop, a citrus packing house, Seminole Indian Village, cow camp and more! Each building is packed with artifacts to showcase the lifestyle of early Florida pioneers.

Pioneer Food Tasting (For groups of 30 or less) – Students can sample some pioneer food and even make their own butter! This is offered for an extra nominal fee.

Steffee Preserve Nature Hike – The nature hike is a walk through undeveloped land in the Steffee Preserve and Shingle Creek Regional Park. Here, guests can get a feel for what wild Florida was like during the 1800’s. There is even a boardwalk through the wetlands and informational markers along way to learn even more about how important Shingle Creek is as “the headwaters of the Everglades”. A nature scavenger hunt is also available.

Welcome Center and History Museum Tour – This new museum takes students through time to see how Native Americans, early settlers, and our famous cowboys helped shape this county’s rich past. Children can learn even more with hands-on displays and an interactive scavenger hunt.
